Derek has over 25 years of construction and geotechnical design experience, working at a high level in the specialist geotechnical contracting and civil engineering consulting worlds.
He maintains a wide interest in the industry, contributing to the work of the Federation of Piling Specialists (past chairman of the Technical Committee), as the UK’s representative on the European Geotechnical Execution Standards Committee and is a member of British Standards Institution Geotechnical Committee B526.
Derek has a passion for the challenges of geotechnical engineering and is an enthusiastic communicator in his chosen area having written over 20 technical papers. He presents on geotechnical topics throughout the UK and abroad.
Daniel Simpson. BSc. MSc. CGeol. FGS.
UK Registered Ground Engineering Specialist
Daniel has over 17 years’ experience in the construction industry having worked in both geotechnical contracting and consulting environments. He has been responsible for leading geotechnical design teams for the world’s largest geotechnical contractor and has been responsible for developing winning designs for numerous geotechnical projects.
Daniel has a proven track record in providing pragmatic and innovative technical solutions and has successfully delivered a very wide range of geotechnical projects from concept through to construction. He has a thorough interest and understanding of how the geological history of a site influences the most appropriate geotechnical solution coupled with an extensive knowledge of geotechnical construction techniques.
Georgia De Sanctis
MEng CEng MICE
Georgia has a wide range of geotechnical site and design office experience. She has worked within an engineering consulting environment in the UK, France and Italy. She has experience in the infrastructure sector, working on highways, rail and site development projects and has gained an in-depth appreciation of geotechnical solutions.
Georgia enjoys the technical challenges of the project, as well as having developed financial and project management skills.
Contributing to community engagement and development schemes are important to Georgia and she has previously volunteered with EFOD (Engineers for Overseas Development) in Uganda.
Alex has worked on a variety of construction projects from preliminary phase through to construction. Alex feels this experience and exposure serves to make him a better geotechnical design engineer. Alex holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from Loughborough University and three years’ industry experience within geotechnical engineering. He is now looking forward to pursuing his Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Alex has a love of sports and is the head coach for the Coventry Welsh RFC Women’s rugby team and can be found most weekends either playing for Coventry Welsh RFC Men’s or refereeing for the Warwickshire Rugby Referees Society.
